In Ethical Wisdom: What Makes Us Good, Mark Matousek looks at evidence that the human brain is hard-wired for good. Apparently we are born with a “moral organ” that allows us to make ethical choices.

We are, according to Matousek, “ethical creatures in the making” as we evolve and mature. Although compassion is our natural inclination, we have to fight selfish and separating feelings every day.

Assuming the research has validity my question is: Why do our jobs, corporations, capitalism, and politicians seem not to work at compassionate decision-making? and Where does their over-developed sense of entitlement come from?
