The Oct-Nov. 2011 edition of The Catholic Worker included a reprint of a 1972  Dorothy Day article .titled, “Our Peaceful Revolution.”

She quotes a Quaker saying that refers to another’s comments: “they do not speak to my condition.”

The quote speaks to me but raises questions. If someone or some group does not “speak to my condition” do I still have to accept and be compassionate toward them?

Better yet, maybe I need to take time to find out what exactly is my condition?
