The Japanese word shibumi has many meanings but I get focused on ‘simple, articulate brevity’.
Somehow it links me to the old tea cups, fashioned by Korean farmers for day-to-day use. Not symmetrical. Imperfect and made from the clay of their farm which carries the dust and spirit of the ancestors.
Simple brevity. The spiritual tranquility of making the cup and using it every day to honor their lineage. And relax.
What a wonderful way to honor one’s ancestry.
